Data Center Technician




Position Summary

The Data Center Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of IT hardware and infrastructure in a mission-critical data center environment. This role supports operational uptime by performing both routine and emergency tasks related to servers, storage, networking, and facility systems, ensuring optimal performance and availability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Rack, stack, and cable servers, storage systems, and network devices according to layout specifications and cable management standards
  • Perform hardware installations, swaps, upgrades, and decommissions for servers, switches, routers, and appliances
  • Monitor system health and respond to alarms or alerts from BMS and DCIM tools
  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on data center equipment
  • Assist in troubleshooting hardware and connectivity issues at the physical layer
  • Support remote hands requests from internal teams or clients
  • Maintain asset inventory and documentation
  • Follow all security protocols and safety procedures
  • Participate in on-call rotations and emergency response situations

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience in a data center, IT support, or infrastructure technician role
  • Basic knowledge of networking, cabling standards, and server hardware
  • Familiarity with physical and environmental monitoring tools
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in confined spaces
  • Strong documentation, organizational, and communication skills

Preferred:

  • Experience with structured cabling systems and labeling standards
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems
  • Awareness of data center compliance standards
