LAC Enrolls First 16 Students in WorkSource Macon-Bibb Educational Partnership
For Immediate Release 11/18/20 – Learning Alliance Newsroom
Learning Alliance Corporation (LAC) launches telecommunications educational initiative in partnership with WorkSource Macon-Bibb that supports Georgians gaining entry into fiber, tower, and broadband-related careers.
“The telecommunication industry provides a great opportunity for individuals to enter the middle class with upward mobility to grow as the industry expands,” says Cesar Ruiz, President & CEO of Learning Alliance. “With the Infrastructure Bill supporting 60 billion dollars towards telecommunications expansion, high-demand career paths in fiber, wireless, and tower will rise. For those looking to obtain a career, Learning Alliance will serve as the bridge towards financial sustainability to our community within the telecommunication vertical.”
This event gives attendees an opportunity to learn everything they need to know about the industry. They discuss job options and the kind of training they would need to make a career in the industry a possibility. With the growing demand for high-speed internet and wireless connectivity, there are different types of careers in telecom, helping attendees choose the path that aligns best with their personal mission.
“We’re excited about the opportunity to partner with Learning Alliance on providing such a unique training opportunity for Macon-Bibb residents as well as the region and the State,” says Lauren Roan-Parks, Chair of Macon-Bibb Workforce Development Board. “The Board looks forward to assisting telecommunication companies with their workforce needs by creating a trained pipeline for the industry.”
Thanks to this event, Leaning Alliance has enrolled 6 individuals into the program already, with an additional 15 progressing forward into various programs. The approach utilizes a 2-week pre-apprentice online course that prepares the individual for 2-weeks of in-person training in either wireless, fiber, or macro-cell site installation. LAC will provide placement opportunities, housing, transportation, food, and travel to students who meet the Georgia qualifications for enrollment into the program.
