Position Summary
The NOC Analyst monitors, analyzes, and maintains the operational integrity of telecommunications networks, ensuring service continuity and performance across core, access, and transport infrastructure. Operating in a 24/7 network operations environment, the analyst serves as a frontline responder for alarms, outages, and performance issues affecting voice, data, and broadband services.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor real-time network status using NMS/EMS tools
- Perform Tier 1 and Tier 2 diagnostics on transport systems and infrastructure
- Escalate critical issues to engineering or field teams
- Coordinate response and resolution with field technicians and partners
- Document and track incidents through ticketing systems
- Execute remote troubleshooting procedures
- Assist with planned maintenance windows
- Support SLA compliance and report on KPIs
- Maintain shift handoff documentation
- Support provisioning and activation checks
Qualifications
Required:
- Associate degree in Network Technology, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
- 1-3 years in a NOC or telecom operations role
- Working knowledge of Layer 1-3 protocols
- Familiarity with fiber optics, RF systems, or microwave/wireless transport
- Experience with NMS platforms and ticketing tools
- Strong analytical skills and ability to work under pressure
Preferred:
- Industry certifications (CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, Juniper JNCIA)
- Basic scripting or automation experience
- Familiarity with SONET, DWDM, or LTE/5G backhaul systems
Work Environment
- 24/7 operations center; rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Fast-paced, high-reliability environment with strict SLA adherence
- Requires extended screen time, headset communication, and occasional remote system access
- May involve interaction with on-call engineers and field teams during emergency events
