Rigging Specialists: Safely Elevating Wireless Infrastructure

Position Summary

The Rigging Specialist is responsible for safely lifting and securing wireless infrastructure components such as antennas, mounts, radios, and platforms to elevated structures. This role ensures all rigging and hoisting activities follow OSHA, ANSI, and internal safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute rigging operations for towers, monopoles, and rooftops
  • Use rigging gear, ropes, pulleys, and winches to hoist antennas, booms, and steel mounts
  • Conduct pre-lift inspections, load balancing, and tag-line control
  • Ensure rigging hardware and lifting plans meet load requirements and site safety protocols
  • Coordinate with ground crew, climbers, and equipment operators during lifts
  • Maintain documentation of rigging plans, load calculations, and daily logs

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of telecom tower rigging or general rigging experience
  • Knowledge of rigging equipment (slings, shackles, blocks) and hand signals
  • Comtrain, NWSA Rigging Certification, or NCCCO Signalperson/Rigger preferred
  • Strong understanding of OSHA 1926 Subpart CC and ANSI 10.48 standards
  • Ability to work at heights and under tight safety compliance

  • Exposure to fall hazards, weather conditions, and high-stress lifts
  • Travel and overnight stays common for multi-site deployments
