Small Cell / DAS Technician

Position Summary

The Small Cell / DAS Technician installs, tests, and services distributed antenna systems (DAS) and small cell nodes for indoor and outdoor wireless coverage. The role includes deployment in high-density venues, campuses, and urban environments to support LTE/5G networks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and cable remote units, antennas, POEs, power taps, and fiber backhaul to small cells
  • Mount antennas and enclosures on utility poles, rooftops, or indoor ceilings
  • Test coax/fiber runs, perform sweep and PIM tests, and validate signal strength
  • Troubleshoot RF performance, sync, and power issues
  • Coordinate with network engineers and integration teams for site commissioning
  • Maintain installation standards, cable labels, and as-built documentation

Qualifications

Required:

  • 2+ years of experience in DAS, small cell, or RF installation
  • Knowledge of RF propagation, passive/active DAS, and fiber cabling
  • Experience with test tools (e.g., OTDR, spectrum analyzer, PIM/SWEEP testers)
  • Ability to work in tight indoor spaces or on utility poles

Preferred:

  • OSHA 10, RF Safety, and bucket truck certification

  • Night shifts or after-hours cutovers may be required
