Small Cell Technicians: Building America's Next-Gen Networks

Position Summary

The Tower Climber installs, maintains, and repairs wireless telecommunications equipment on towers, monopoles, and elevated structures. The role includes antenna and line work, troubleshooting, and inspections up to 500 feet in height or more.

Key Responsibilities

  • Climb towers to install and maintain antennas, mounts, coax, RRUs, and jumpers
  • Conduct inspections, weatherproofing, torque checks, and grounding validation
  • Replace damaged hardware, re-align antennas, and troubleshoot line issues
  • Use PIM/SWEEP/OTDR test equipment and capture closeout photos
  • Maintain compliance with safety procedures and fall protection standards
  • Document daily activity, redlines, and install photos for closeout packages

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of tower climbing or rigging experience
  • Valid climbing certifications (e.g., Comtrain, NWSA)
  • RF Awareness and First Aid/CPR training
  • Experience with common wireless OEMs (Nokia, Ericsson, Samsung)
  • Strong understanding of fall protection and rescue protocols

Work Environment


  • Work performed at extreme heights and in outdoor conditions
  • Travel, extended shifts, and overnight stays frequently required
  • Exposure to wind, heat, cold, and potential RF energy hazards
